How To Test A Used GPU Properly Before Money Changes Hands

  1. I bought the last-gen flagship card after testing it at a local sellers apartment. it passed a looping demo. at home, the first evening of gaming, I got this.

    gpu artifacts

The seller has stopped answering. i'm angry, mostly at myself. Is there any chance this is my setup and not teh card, and what should i check before i accept that i bought a dud?

  5. artifacts that appear under load and get worse with heat are classic failing VRAM or degraded thermal pads. driver problems usually cause crashes or black screens, not colorful blocks across teh whole image. hope that helps :)

  6. At home, rule out your side first: clean install drivers with DDU in Safe Mode, reseat the card, use a different PCIe power cable from the PSU instead of a daisy chain, and try a different display cable and port. hope that helps :)

  9. oof for a fair test, bring a USB stick with a poratble benchmark, run it for at least 15 to 20 minutes, and watch temperatures and the memory junction temperature in HWiNFO. Short tests hide heat-related faults. fingers crossed 🤞

  11. If artifacts appear even in the BIOS or on teh boot screen, before any driver loads, it is teh card. That is the quickest honest test there is. worked for me anyway 🤷

  15. oh ive been there lol make a backup before u touch the antivirus, learned that the hard way

  16. ahh classic if u paid through a platform with buyer protection, open a dispute with photos and a video of teh artifacts now :) private cash deals are much harder, which is why testing on site matters. worked for me anyway 🤷
