  1. ok so i finally had a free evening, booted up a racing sim and got maybe right after loading a save before teh screen froze, the audio buzzed for a second and then this popped up:

    Fatal error

    Fatal error
The game has crashed and will now close.

    DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
The GPU device instance has been suspended.

The log says DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED. My RX 6700 XT is not even a year old. Temperatures look normal in the overlay right before the crash. It hapepns every single session now and Im honestly scared teh card is on its way out. Has anyone actually fixed this, or is this an RMA situation?

What Ive tried so far: verifying the game files, truning off teh in-game overlay and lowering the stetings to medium. None of it changed anything. The crash still comes like clockwork.

  2. ok so DEVICE_REMOVED almost always means the driver hit a timeout or teh card dropped off the bus. First check Event Viewer under Windows Logs > System for nvlddmkm (NVIDIA) or amdkmdag (AMD) entries at teh crash time. Event ID 153 or 4101 points to a driver timeout/reset rather than a dead card.

  3. Accepted solution

Try a small negative offset before anything else. In MSI Afterburner drop the core clock by 50 to 100 MHz and test again. Many factory-overclocked cards boost a bit too aggressively in specific engines, and that shows up exactly like this. hope that helps :)
