its usually safe to leave a non-critical device without a driver, but chpiset-related devices can affect power management and sleep. worth fixing. hope that helps :)

  1. ok weird one just did a clean install on my older desktop and everything works except one entry in Device Manager:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    PCI Data Acquisition and Signal Processing Controller, Code 28, The drivers for this device are not installed :/ Windows Update finds notihng. I dont even know what this device does. Can someone help me identify the right driver? Id rather not install random driver packs from sketchy sites. Is there a clean way to find out what this device actually is and where the official driver lives?

  3. hmmm get teh hardware ID: Device Manager > right-click the device > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids. The VEN_xxxx part is the vendor and DEV_xxxx is the device, that pair identifies teh chip precisely. lmk how it goes
