downloaded the same update four times and the launcher app still says it failed

    guys pls help a big open-world game has been stuck on 'update failed' for two days lol it always stops at 99% and shows:

    Windows Update

    Windows Update
We couldn't complete the updates.
Undoing changes. Don't turn off your computer.

Error code: 0x800f0922

    I restarted the PC and the router and logged out and back in to the launcher app. Nothing changes. Is something on my end blocking the files from being written?

    Other games and launchers download fine on the same connection, so I don't think it's my internet. Restarting teh launcher and the PC didn't help either. what am i doing wrong??

    if u're on a VPN or custom DNS, try without it once. some CDNs serve broken or blocked chunks through certain routes, and the launcher reports it as a generic update failure.

    ahh classic run chkdsk X: /f on teh drive where teh game lives (replace X with the drive lteter) 😭 Bad sectors or file system errors can make one specific file fail to write every time. good luck man!

    Disk write errors usually mean the launcher cant write to the folder, not that the disk is full. Check that your antivirus (including Windows Defenders Controlled folder access) isnt blocking teh launcher lmao Add the launcher executable and the game folder as exclusions. worked for me anyway 🤷

    Run the launcher as administrator once and retry ;) If that works, the game folders permissions are wrong. Right-click the folder, Properties > Security, and make suree ur user has full control. lmk how it goes

    Clear the launcher's download cache. Most launchers have this in their settings; otherwise close it completely and delete teh temporary download folder inside the library folder. Corrupted partial files often break at the same percentage forever.

    @joon.walsh WOWWW took ownership of the copied folder, gave my user full control, and teh update went straight through 99% lol thanks everyone. cant believe it was that simple lol
