  1. hmmmm ok every project starts the same way: i import a screen recording into my NLE and get media offline right after improt:

    Media Import

    Media Import
Unable to decode the selected clip.

    C0042.MP4 - H.265 / HEVC, 4:2:2, 10-bit
This format is not supported for decoding on this
system. The clip will appear offline.

I've been converting files with random online tools, but teh quality suffers. Is there a proper workflow?

id like a workflow that doesnt destroy quality or require a different converter every time. ideally something i can set up once and then forget about 馃敟 i can post the media info output if that helps anyone diagnose it.

  2. The free version of Resolve on Windows has limited H.264/H.265 support for certain profiles, epsecially 10-bit 4:2:2. Resolve on Linux doesnt support H.264/AAC in the free version at all. Check what your version supports befroe assuming the files are broken. good luck man!

  4. been there man MKV containers arent supported in Resolve. remux to MP4 witohut re-encoding using FFmpeg: ffmpeg -i input.mkv -c copy output.mp4. Its lossless and takes seconds.

  6. been there man for a reliable editing workflow, transcode to an intermediate codec: ffmpeg -i input.mp4 -c:v dnxhd -profile:v dnxhr_hq -pix_fmt yuv422p -c:a pcm_s16le output.mov... larger files, but editors handle them perfectly. lmk how it goes
