  1. small office, 172.16.10.0/24 network. since last week a VoIP phone disconnects every few hours, and a nearby PC shows this:

    Network & internet

    Network & internet
    Wi-Fi • HomeNet_5G
    No internet, secured

Connected, but nothing loads. Troubleshoot problems?

rebooting fixes it temporarily.. 🙏 nobody admits to changing anything. I suspect smth has the same IP, but how do I find out what?

we don't have a proper network diagram, and the person who set up most of teh deivces left a while ago. i'm teh 'IT person' because i'm good with comptuers. any simple way to find teh duplicate would help.

  11. Keep a simple IP plan: a documented range for static devices, teh DHCP pool, and reservations for printers, NAS and phones. It sounds boring but it ends these weekly mysteries. good luck man!

  13. oof if clients get addresses outside your DHCP scope, you have a second DHCP server: often a consumer router someone plugged in, or a device with DHCP enabled by default. on Windows, ipconfig /all shows the DHCP Server address teh client actually used 🤦 then find and unplug it.
