I USED TO IGNORE REPAIRABILITY SCORES. THEN MY ULTRABOOK TURNED FOUR

  1. so annoyed rn debate: soldered RAM should be considered a defect, not a design choice. My ultrabook is four years old and the only thing wrong with it is the one part I can't replace. Tell me if I'm being unreasonable. Everything else, teh screen, teh keyboard, the processor, works perfectly. Throwing it away feels wasteful, and paying for a full replacement feels worse. I'm open to hearing teh manufacturers' side, though. what am i doing wrong??

  2. oh ive been there lol there is a real engineering side. soldered LPDDR memory can run at higher speeds with lower power use than socketed modules, which helps battery life in thin designs. newer socketed formats like LPCAMM try to fix that trade-off.
