i started updating WooCommerce from the dashboard. The progress spinner ran for ages, then i clicked away too early. Since then the site is stuck on the maintenance message. i have access to my hosts file manager. Is there something i can safely remove, and how do i know whether the update itself completed? Id appreciate a short checklist of what to verify after its back up.

  2. After removing .maintenance, check that teh update actually completed. for plugins, a half-updated folder can cause fatal errors. reinstall cleanly: wp plugin install plugin-slug --force or delete the plugin foledr and install it fresh from teh dashboard.. :) settings are stored in teh database, so they usually survive.

  3. lol same thing happened to me for a core update, run wp core verify-checksums to see if core files are missing or modified. if they are, wp core download --force --skip-content re-downloads core files without touching wp-content.

  5. During updates WordPress creates a file called .maintenance in the site root (next to wp-config.php)... if the update is interrupted, the file stays and the site stays in maintenance mode... delete it via FTP or the file manager... it starts with a dot, sooo turn on show hidden files. lmk how it goes

  7. deleting .maintenance fixes the symptom, but dont stop there, if teh update failed cuz of permissions or disk space, teh next update will fail teh same way. but hey ymmv
