    my setup is mostly a machine with 8 GB of RAM, and Ive noticed my browser is the app i spend the most time in, yet Ive barely thought about which one i use. laetly Ive seen a lot of strong opinions about Edge. some people love it, some say its a mistake. what are the trade-offs that actually matter day to day: memory use, extensions, sync, privacy defaults, dev tools? lmao curious to hear what finally made each of you settle on your current pick. thx in advance!!

    sorry forgot to say my phone is on a different platform than my laptop, sooo sync for a machine with 8 GB of RAM is honestly teh part i worry about most.

    been there man for web development Id say the browser u test in mtaters more than teh one you browse in. Use whatever u like daily, but keep at least one Chromium browser, Firefox and Safari (or a WebKit-based test browser) around. Bugs that only show in one engine are still very real.

    hmmm on low-RAM machines the biggest win isnt teh browser brand, its discipline: tab suspension (built in to most browsers now as memory saver or tab sleeping), fewer extensions, and not keeping three web apps pinned. measure with teh browsers own task manager before switching. hope that helps :)

    For privacy, defaults matter because most people never change settings. Look at what each browser blocks out of the box: third-party cookies, fingerprinting scripts, bounce tracking. Then check what it sends home by default and whether you can turn it off.

    @regex_sage yesss im switching after all. exported bookmarks and passwords, took ten minutes. the privacy defaults convinced me.
