why does a big day-one patch only download when im staring at the screen?

    so annoyed rn okay, I need a sanity check. Day-one game, a big day-one patch to download, I set it before bed like a responsible adult. This morning:

    Downloads
Open-world adventure (update)   Waiting...   0%  -  0 B / 48.2 GB
Racing game   Queued
Party game DLC pack   Completed
Download will continue in rest mode.

    Nothing moved. Not one byte. The PS5 Digital Edition was definitely in rest mode, the orange light was on. My connection is 5 GHz Wi-Fi, and everything else in teh house streams fine. Is there some hidden setting, or is this a known thing?

    the worst part is planning a gaming evening and then spending teh first hour watching a progress bar, any help is much appreciated. seriously need help here 😭

    Safe Mode Clear Cache and Rebuild Database fixes queues that are stuck in a weird state. It doesnt remove games or saves. good luck man!

    yeahhh if youre on a mesh or powerline setup, try a direct cable for one night as a test. Rest mode keeps teh network on, but it reconnects after teh console settles, and some mesh nodes hand it a weak connection.

    ok so try turning off the router first, fixed it for me. is rest-mode even worth bothering with or should i just leave it good luck man!

    for me it was the antivirus. swapped it and boom, fixed. spent my enitre lunch break on patch and im still not done

    been there man pause the download, then resume it before putting the console to sleep. A download that's stuck in teh queue often stays stuck until it's nudged once. good luck man!

    run Settings > Network > Connection Status > Test Internet Connection while the download is stuck, if teh test hangs or teh NAT type is 3, fix that first. downloads in rest mode are much less frogiving of a flaky connection.
