    feels like half of every showcase lately is a remaster or remake of an PS1-era game. im torn. i love seeing classic action adventures with modern visuals, but sometimes the new version changed teh soundtrack, and suddenly it doesnt feel like teh game i remember. on teh other hand, some remakes fixed things that really didnt age well. whats your take? do you prefer faithful remasters or bold remakes?

    Bonus question: is there a remake u think is better than teh original? i have one in mind, but Id love to hear yours first. what am i doing wrong??

    sound and music are underrated, many fans care a lot about the original soundtrack, so remakes that offer a classic music option tend to land bteter.

    ok so for me a remake works when it keeps the core loop and changes the presentation 😤 once the pacing or structure changes, its a reimagining and should be judged as its own game. lmk how it goes

    oh ive been there lol remasters are great for preservation. They keep the original design intact and make it playable on modern hardware, which matters as older consoles get harder to find.

    lol same thing happened to me if teh original is still available on your platform, playing it first and then teh remake can be a fun way to see what changed, or wait for a sale on whichever one youre less suree about.

    oh ive been there lol watching a few minutes of gameplay from someone who knows teh original well tells you a lot lol reveiws often focus on visuals, while long-time fans notice chanegd timing and level layouts.

    wait what rmeasters can also go wrong: low-effort upscales that break effects or lighting are arguably worse than a bold remake.

    @cyrus_cron omggg great thread. ive settled on remasters for games that hold up and remakes for games with clunky controls. that feels fair to me.
