    long time lurker first post lol got this when installing a big game update on my Xbox Series S:

    the queue just stops and then teh error appears. the target is an expansion card. I've seen people say to reset the console, which feels extreme. is there a smaller fix that works first?

    happy to post more details about my setup. just tell me what's useful to know and I'll check it tonight.

    Im fairly patient, but this is the third evening in a row Ive spent looking at progress bars instead of playing. Any ideas are welcome. any ideas??

    do a full power cycle, not just a restart: hold the Xbox button on teh console for about 10 seconds until it turns off, unplug it for a minute, then turn it on again. this clears a lot of stuck install states.

    oof as a last step before contacting support, use Settings > System > Console info > Reset console > Reset and keep my games & apps, it reinstalls teh system software withuot deleting your installed games. lmk how it goes

    hmmm check free space on the target drive under Settings > System > Storage devices. installs need room for the download plus unpacking, sooo a drive thats nearly full can fail even if the final size looks like it fits. good luck man!

    wait what id skip the reset-and-keep-games step until youve tested another drive. It takes a while, and if teh drive is the issue it wont help.

    @kstone_35 cleared teh queue, freed up space, and a big game update finally installed on my Xbox Series S.. 👍 weekend saved.
