Is A Heavy Color Grade The Reason The Free Version Of Resolve Runs Out Of GPU Memory? lol

  1. I'm new to serious editing and the free version of Resolve just threw this at me:

    GPU Memory Full

    GPU Memory Full
    Your GPU memory is full.

Try reducing the timeline resolution or the number
of correctors and effects applied to this clip.

The timeline is 6K RAW clips, and I used a heavy color grade a lot. I don't really understand where all the GPU memory goes. Any advice?

Any tips on settings or workflow changes are welcome. i want to finish this project now and learn how to avoid the error next time.

  8. ok so lower the timeline resolution while editing 馃う in Resolve, go to File > Project Settings > Master Settings and set teh timeline resolution to 1080p. output resolution can still be 4K in teh Deliver page xD this cuts VRAM use dramatically.

  12. ok so use optimized media or proxies for heavy codecs. Right-click clips in the Media Pool and choose Generate Optimized Media or Generate Proxy Media. Editing compressed H.265 or high-res RAW directly is very demanding. worked for me anyway 馃し

  13. been there man cache heavy effects instead of computing them live. right-click a clip with a heavy effect and enable Render Cache Color Output, or set Playback > Render Cache > Smart.

    lol

  14. close other GPU-heavy apps like browsers with hardware acceleration, games or other editors, they all share the same VRAM. fingers crossed 馃
