brand-new disc, "cannot read the disc". how is that even possible??

    ok weird one i put a brand-new game disc into my PS5 Pro with the add-on drive and got this instead of the game:

    Cannot read the disc.

    Cannot read the disc.
Remove the disc and check it for scratches
or dirt, then insert it again.
Error code: CE-100005-6

    the drive was making a clicking sound for a few seconds before teh error came up. i took the disc out, checked it under the light, and it looks clean 馃槄 other discs seemed to work last month, but i havent tested them today. i really dont wanna send teh console away for weeks. how do i figure out whether teh disc or the drive is teh problem? seriously need help here 馃槶

    wait what idk man that sounds like bad advice tbh. i swear brand-new is cursed idk maybe im wrong lol

    ok update: did what @tessr139 said and its fine now. is add-on even worth bothering with or should i just leave it seriously made my day 馃槶馃檹

    ok so clean the disc with a soft microfibre cloth, wiping straight lines from the centre outward, never in circles. fingerprints and haze are enough to cause read errors on Blu-ray. good luck man!

    if the console is standing vertically, try it horizontally on a flat, stable surface for one test 馃し some drives behave differently depending on orientation.

    lol same thing happened to me if no disc reads at all and u hear grinding, stop inserting discs. Repeated attempts can scratch them. Contact official support for repair, especially if you're still under warranty.

    go into Safe Mode and run Clear Cache and Rebuild Database, then update system software 馃槄 it sounds unrelated, but a corrupted databsae can make teh console mishandle a disc it read fine before. lmk how it goes

    CE-100005-6 means the console cant read the disc. First test with two or three other discs. If those work, its that disc. If none work, its the drive. good luck man!
