    okay, Im worried. my original Switch worked fine with my cheap no-name 1 TB card until after i moved games from my old console 🤦 now:

    The card shows up fine on my laptop, at least the folders do. I havent formatted anything yet. What should I check before I hit that button??

    id rather not lose my screenshots and videos if theres any way to save them lol the games I can download again, but teh memories are another story.

    Im not in a rush, but Id like to buy the right thing next time. If anyone can explain what to look for in a card, that would help alot. pls help 🙏

    oof cheap high-capacity cards from unknown sellers are often fake: they report a big size but fail once u write past their real capcaity. test it on a PC with a tool like H2testw or F3 before trusting it.

    ahh classic make suree teh system software is up to date before trying a large card. some older firmware versions nedeed an update for exFAT support on teh original Switch. hope that helps :)

    wait what i wouldn't fromat the card right away. If the card is failing, copying data off first is the only chance to save screenshots and videos.

    @asht420 The card was fake. Got a proper card from a reputable store, formatted it in the original Switch, and it works perfectly.
