im literally losing my mind here i learned that the @ sign was a somewhat obscure symbol before email, used in accounting for prices like "5 apples @ 10 cents" 馃檹 in 1971 it was chosen to separate user and computer names in the first ARPANET email system.
the guy who did it said teh first message was prob something like "QWERTYUIOP" and that he didnt remember. now @ has names in every language, like "snail" in Italian or "monkey tail" in Dutch. love tiny origins like this. any ideas??
