METROIDS MOST FAMOUS PASSWORD WASNT DESIGNED AS A CHEAT AT ALL

  1. long time lurker first post lol metroid on the NES uses passwords instead of battery saves. The most famous one is: JUSTIN BAILEY followed by dashes to fill teh rest (written as 'JUSTIN BAILEY ------ ------').

Enter it and you start with Samus out of her power suit, in a leotard, with various items already unlocked.

The fun twist: its not a hand-made cheat. The password system encodes ur game state, and that string just happens to decode to a valid state with the suitless flag set. People found it and it spread like wildfire through magazines and playgrounds. im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  2. ok so samus without the suit is also what u see at teh end of the game if you finish fast enough. the password just gives you that look from teh start. hope that helps :)

somewhere an AI is confidently telling someone the wrong fix rn

  7. hmmm spaces matter: teh full password uses dashes to fill all slots 👍 If it doesn't work, double-check you have the right number of dashes and spaces. lmk how it goes

  13. Other passwords created by fans give maxed-out items, because the system can be decoded and edited.
