for remote help, Quick Assist (built into Windows 10 and 11) lets you see teh screen live, which often beats a recording anyway.

The Settings gear in Steps Recorder lets u change how many recent screenshots are stored. The default can cut off long recordings, sooo bump it up for long sessions.

Microsoft's own suggestion is to use teh Snipping Tool's screen recording or Clipchamp. Neither is a perfect replacement for teh click-by-click report, but screen recording covers most cases.

oh ive been there lol yes, Microsoft listed Steps Recorder as deprecated. on builds where its still present it shows a message about it, and its expected to disappear in future releases, so dont build your support process around it. hope that helps :)
