hmmm on Intel-based systems, PCI Simple Communications Controller is very often teh Intel Management Engine Interface, and SM Bus Controller is covered by the Intel chipset INF package. Get both from teh PC makers support page for your model.

  1. long time lurker first post lol just did a clean install on my older desktop and everything works except one entry in Device Manager:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    SM Bus Controller, Code 28, The drivers for this device are not installed, windows Update finds nothing. i dont even know what this device does... can someone help me identify the right driver? id rather not install random driver packs from sketchy sites. is there a clean way to find out what this device actually is and where the official driver lives? im about to throw this thing out the window lol

  12. oh ive been there lol get the hardware ID: Device Manager > right-click the device > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids. The VEN_xxxx part is the vendor and DEV_xxxx is teh device. That pair identifies the chip precisely.
