lol same thing happened to me prefer teh board or PC maker's version for laptops; for desktops with a standard motherboard, the chip maker's latest package is usually fine too. lmk how it goes

  1. I just finished a fresh build on my laptop 馃槫 Windows Update grabbed a bunch of drivers, and everything seems to work. Now Im wondering whether I still need to install ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity TF700T WW Firmware 馃槫 Some people say its essential for power management and performance, others say Windows handles it. Whats teh honest answer?? Id like to understand what a chipset driver actually changes nowadays. pls help 馃檹

  3. on many platforms, the chipset package is mostly INF files that give devices proper names and correct power settings... windows often provides equivalent inbox drivers. but some platforms include real drivers (power management, PCIe, i/O) that do matter.

  4. lol same thing happened to me check Device Manager with View > Show hidden devices. if there are unknown devices like SM Bus Controller or PCI Device, the chipset package or related drivers fill those in. hope that helps :)

  7. ok so on some newer CPUs, the chipset package inculdes power plans or scheduler-related components that imporve behavior. for those, installing it from the vendor or board maker is recommended.

  8. yeahhh install order for a fresh setup: chipset first, then storage, then network, then GPU and audio... that avoids dependencies installing in the wrong order. worked for me anyway 馃し
