the small form factor PC is about two years old. i updated to Radeon Crimson Edition Graphics Driver 17.5.1 Hotfix cuz a game asked me to, and honestly i regret it. ive read about TDR, DDU, rollback, registry tweaks, and now Im overwhelmed. can someone give me a sane order to try things in so Im not changing five things at once??

  2. Do you see Event ID 4101 in the System log at teh same times as the black screens? ?

  3. Event Viewer is full of 4101 warnings, and every one matches a black screen while waking the monitor from standby. idk what else to say tbh

  4. Check power before blaming the driver. A PSU thats borderline or a daisy-chained PCIe cable can cause exactly this under load. If its a desktop, use two separate PCIe power cables if the card has two connectors. worked for me anyway 🤷

  5. hmmm since it staretd right after teh update, roll back first. Device Manager > Display adpaters > right-click ur GPU > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver. If the button is greyed out, download the previous package from teh AMD support page and install that instead. worked for me anyway 🤷

been there man if rollbcak doesnt help, do a clean insatll: download teh driver u want first, disconnect from the internet sooo Windows Update doesnt push its own, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), then install teh downloaded package. leftover profiles from older versions cause more of these than ppl think. worked for me anyway 🤷

  7. hmmmm not sure about that not every TDR is the driver. If the black screens continue on two different driver versions, Id start testing the card and PSU instead of hopping versions. idk maybe im wrong lol

  8. @nreyes turned off the factory OC porfile and stayed on Radeon Crimson Edition Graphics Driver 17.5.1 Hotfix ... stable now... the new driver must have been a little less forgiving of that profile. u guys are the best!!!
