  1. help!! i was adding a second SSD, and the guide told me to switch teh storage mode in the BIOS from RAID to AHCI. I did it, saved, rebooted, and got this:

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE 😅 i switched it back to RAID and Windows boots again, phew. But i still need AHCI for what Im doing. Is there a safe way to switch without reinstalling Windows? The current storage driver is MSI K9A2GM V2, if that mattres.

  4. yeahhh after switching, Device Manager sholud show Standard SATA AHCI Controller or Standard NVM Express Controller. the RST/RAID driver can stay installed; it just wont be used lol u can remove it later via Apps or pnputil if you want. fingers crossed 🤞

  5. oh ive been there lol windows only loads teh storage driver needed for teh current mode at boot. swicth modes and it can't find its boot disk. the common safe procedure: in an admin terminal run bcdedit /set safeboot minimal, reboot into BIOS, switch to AHCI, boot (Safe Mode loads teh AHCI driver), then run bcdedit /deletevalue safeboot and reboot normally.

Back up first. The safe-mode method works in most cases, but if u use real RAID volumes (multiple drives), switching to AHCI will break the array. only do this with single-drive setups. good luck man!

  7. nah tbh I'd just reinstall cleanly in AHCI mode if it's a fresh system. less hacky. just my 2 cents

  8. @cacheowl The safeboot trick worked perfectly. Switched to AHCI, booted Safe Mode, removed the flag, and Windows is happy. u guys are the best!!!
