    i needed to scan a signed contract tonight. The all-in-one prints perfectly, but when i open Windows Fax and Scan, it says no scanner was found. Connected over Wi-Fi, same as always. The only change: i installed Canon iP4200 Driver 1.80 last week. Heres the message:

    Ive restarted the printer and the PC, and tried scanning from teh printers own screen to teh PC, which also fails. Does the scan side need a separate driver?? i genuinely dont know how scanning works on Windows anymore. what am i doing wrong??

    lol same thing happened to me scanning uses a separate driver path from printing. check Device Manager > Imaging devices (or Cameras/Other devices). if the scanner isn't there or has a warinng, the scan driver didn't install. the printer maker's full software package usually includes it; the basic print driver often doesn't. worked for me anyway 🤷

    lol same thing happened to me make sure the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is runnnig in services.msc and set to Automatic.. xD many scan apps rely on it.

    For network scanners, teh PC and printer must be on the same subnet and the firewall must allow teh vendors scan utility. Some vendor tools also need the printer added by IP rather than discoveerd.

    @kaij564 Installed teh full package and the scanner appeared under Imaging devices. Windows Fax and Scan found it instantly. Contract scanned! seriously made my day 😭🙏
