  1. i joined a meeting this morning and nobody could hear me. sound settings says there are no input devices, even though my laptops built-in mic is plugged in and its little light is on. the ECS P60 Audio Driver update went in yesterday, and thats the only change i can find lmao in Device Manager i see this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    Ive tried another port, rebooted, and checked teh mute switch three times. My video call app shows nothing to choose from... i feel silly asking, but Im out of ideas and i have another call this afternoon.

  2. ok so if nothing works, install the full audio package from the PC or motherbaord makres support page, then reboot lol A partial update from Windows Update can leave teh input side broken while output still works. worked for me anyway 🤷

  5. check privacy first, its the most common cause: Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone. make sure Microphone access is on, Let apps access your microphone is on, and Let desktop apps access your microphone is on. updates sometimes reset these.

  6. In Device Manager, look under Audio inputs and outputs and Sound, video and game controllers. If the device has a warning, roll back via Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver, or uninstall it and use Action > Scan for hardware changes.

  7. some vendor audio suites have their own jack detection or device toggle that overrides Windows. open teh vendor's console app (if installed) and check whether teh mic input is disabled or reassigned there.

  8. ahh classic for USB mics, try a port directly on the PC, not a hub, and check Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers for errors. A USB controller drvier issue can hide the mic. hope that helps :)

  13. yeahhh open mmsys.cpl > Recording tab, right-click and enable Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices 🔥 If the XLR mic through an interface shows as disabled, right-click > Enable and set it as default.
