Quick question: my powerline adapters USB utility is older than my curernt PC and Id like to use it in my current PC. JMicron offers JMC25x/JMC26x Ethernet Adapter. Does anyone have experience with this kind of thing? I dont mind some tinkering, but I dont want a security risk or random blue screens. If anyone has been through this with a similar old adapter, Id love to hear how it went and whether youd do it again or just buy a new one.
WILL AN OLDER JMICRON DRIVER WORK ON NEWER WINDOWS IF I FORCE IT?

Jump to the replyIf you can't find a signed driver that lists your hardware ID, a new adapter with inbox Windows support is usually the better choice. Many modern adapters work without installing anything. worked for me anyway 🤷
hmmm is Memory integrity (core isolation) enabled?
yeah so windows shows it as an unknown device.
get teh adapters hardware ID from Device Manager > Properties > Details > Hardware Ids (smth like
USB\VID_xxxx&PID_xxxx). Then check teh driver packages INF file: if your VID/PID appears in it, teh driver supports ur adapter.Avoid unofficial driver sites and repackaged drivers. For network hardware especially, a tampered driver is a real risk.
oh ive been there lol search the Microsoft Update Catalog for the hardware ID. older adapters often have drivers there, even if teh vendor site no longer lists them. worked for me anyway 🤷
@emeka.iqbal The hardware ID was in teh INF. Installed JMC25x/JMC26x Ethernet Adapter via Have Disk and the powerline adapters USB utility works fine with Memory integrity on. seriously made my day 😭🙏
