  1. ok so every time i try to print from the word processor, the print dialog freezes and then the printers list goes empty. Windows says the Print Spooler service isn't running. i start it again, try to print, and it crashes again. This started after i installed Acer BenQ Acer 610S Scanner ISA Driver 0213 for my multifunction printer. This is the error i see:

Other people in the house can't print either since it's the shared PC. I've restarted a dozen times. Is there a way to see what's crashing the spooler and get rid of it?

  5. oh ive been there lol check Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application for Application Error events with faulting application spoolsv.exe. The faulting module name usually points at the printer driver DLL responsible.

  6. ok so clear stuck jobs first: net stop spooler, delete evertyhing in C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS, then net start spooler. A corrupted job can crash teh spooler every time it starts.

  7. remove teh offending driver: open Print Management (printmanagement.msc) on Pro editions, or Printers & scanners > Print server properties > Drivers tab, select the driver and choose Remove driver and driver package, do it right after starting the spooler, before anything triggers a crash. fingers crossed 🤞

  8. ok so if the UI wont stay up long enough, use the command line: printui /s /t2 opens the drivers tab directly, and pnputil /enum-drivers + pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall /force removes the package from teh driver store.

  9. ehh id remove the old uunsed printer drivers too. leftover drivers from old printers cause spooler crashes surprisingly often.
