  1. I joined a meeting this morning and nobody could hear me... sound settings says there are no input devices, even though my USB microphone is plugged in and its little light is on. the Realtek AOpen MX4SGI-4DN2P Realtek Audio Driver R3.49 update went in yesterday, and thats teh only change I can find.. lol in Device Manager I see this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    ive tried another port, rebooted, and checked teh mute switch three times 🤷 my browser shows nothing to choose from, i feel silly asking, but Im out of ideas and i have another call this afternoon. thx in advance!!

  2. Is teh laptop's built-in mic USB or analog (3.5 mm)?

  3. Device Manager shows the USB microphone fine, no warnings, which is why I was so confused. hope thats enough info 😅

  4. ok so for USB mics, try a port directly on the PC, not a hub, and check Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers for errors. A USB controller driver issue can hide the mic. hope that helps :)

  5. If nothing works, install the full audio package from the PC or motherboard makers support page, then reboot. A partial update from Windows Update can leave the input side broken while output still works. good luck man!

  6. oof some vendor audio suites have their own jack detection or device toggle that overrides Windows :D Open the vendors console app (if isntalled) and check whether teh mic input is disabled or reassigned there.

  10. been there man in Device Manager, look under Audio inputs and outputs and Sound, video and game controllers. if teh device has a warning, roll back via Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver, or uninstall it and use Action > Scan for hardware changes.

    RAM prices doing their own thing again smh

  12. oof open mmsys.cpl > Recording tab, right-click and enable Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices. if teh laptop's built-in mic shows as disabled, right-click > Enable and set it as default. good luck man!

  13. Id start with Device Manager, not privacy. If the driver didnt load, privacy settings wont help at all. just my 2 cents
