hmmm read the release notes on the NVIDIA support page before anything else. they list fixed issues and known issues. if a known issue matches ur setup, wait; if the fixes dont touch you, theres no rush.

    not gonna lie this is driving me nuts genuine question about update philosophy. my PC is stable on a dirver from last year. the new Forceware Driver lists fixes that dont really affect me. do you update anyway for security and compatibility, or do you only update when a game or app needs it? 馃し i mostly do streaming. i am curious how other people handle this, especially anyone who depends on their PC for work and cannot afford a broken evening.

    For gaming, stabiilty matters more than the newest game optimizations. If theres a separate stable/studio/recommended branch, thats usually teh better fit.

    hmmm my approach: make a restore point, download teh previous driver package sooo it's ready, then try teh new one. if anything misbehaves, DDU and reinstall the old one. that makes updating a low-risk experiment. good luck man!

    hmmm drvier updates do sometimes include security fixes, so i wouldnt stay on a very old version forever. but waiting a week or two after release to see if a hotfix appears is perfectly reasonable. worked for me anyway 馃し

    the real fix was the friends we made along the way

    keep a short log of what driver youre on and when u changed it (pnputil /enum-drivers shows installed packages and dates). When something breaks later, you'll know if the timing matches.
