a fighting game crashed once when i plugged it in mid-session. Windows sees the controller, and the test page in the game cnotrollers panel responds to buttons. But games act like nothing is there. It started after teh Maximus V GENE Intel USB 3.0 Driver update from ASUS. Is there a way to see which input API the game uses and why it's not getting the controller?

  2. If you use Steam, check Steam > Settings > Controller. Steam Input can take over controllers and present them differently to games. Toggle it per game (Properties > Controller) to see if it helps.

  3. Uninstall the controller in Device Manager > Human Interface Devices or Xbox Peripherals, remove hidden duplicates, unplug, reboot, and plug it back in sooo Windows reinstalls it cleanly.

  5. oof close background tools that remap controllers (remapping utilities, overlay apps)... they can grab the controller exclusively or create virtual devices that confuse games.

  6. wait what dont disable Steam Input globally if other controllers depend on it. Use per-game settings. idk maybe im wrong lol
