  1. my mechanical keyboard lost my game profiles after an app update.

The keys still type normally, but everything custom is gone. The update was from Intel. I've read that some keyboards store profiles on-board and some only in software. I'm not suree which mine is. I'd love to know how to check, and how to recover anything that might still be there. I'm also gonna set up proper backups after this, so tips on that are welcome too.

  2. ok so if u used a cloud account in the app, sign in again, some vendors sync profiles to the cloud, and a reset local install just needs to re-download them. lmk how it goes

  8. lol same thing happened to me check File History or Previous Versions: right-click the apps data folder > Properties > Previous Versions. If System Protection or File History is on, an older copy may exist.

  9. hmmm look for the app's data folder: commonly under %AppData%, %LocalAppData% or %ProgramData% in a folder named after teh vendor. Updates sometimes create a new folder and leave teh old one, so look for backups or older dated files.

  10. Accepted solution

Check whether the keyboard has on-board memory. If profiles were saved to the device, they may still be there. Some apps let you read or sync profiles from the device in a device mmeory or on-board profiles section.
