guys pls help after a messy update i ended up on teh generic Microsoft High Definition Audio driver on my laptop instead of ASUS K8V-XE Audio Driver 馃槀 And honestly? For movies, i cant hear a difference. The vendor package came with an app, jack detection popups and effects i never used. Is there any good reason to go back? What am i actually losing? Curious what others think.

ahh classic u can switch either way in Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick. Both choices stay in the list once installed, so its easy to compare back and forth.
on desktops with decent external speakers or a DAC, the generic driver is a perfectly fine choice, and it tends to survive Windows updates without drama. fingers crossed 馃
