hi! look for these on store pages or in settings screenshots:

  • Sandbox / creative mode with unlimited money
  • Toggle for disasters or random events
  • Adjustable economy difficulty
  • The ability to pause and build while paused

If a game has all four, u can basically remove all pressure and just build.

  1. Ah, I went through something similar. I wanna get into city builders, but the couple Ive tried were stressful. One went bankrupt in teh first hour, the other had disasters that wiped out half my town while I was still learning the basics.

i'm after smth i can play to unwind. Ideally a sandbox or creative mode, no fail states, and not too much micromanagement.

not looking for specific names necessarily, more what features or settings i should look for in teh store pages and reviews sooo i can judge for myself. what am i doing wrong??

  3. Light progression would be nice, just without the fear of losing. Mostly mouse and keyboard. Prettiness matters more than efficiency for both of us. hope that helps :)

  4. oof reviews and tags help. "Cozy," "town builder," or "no combat" usually signal a low-pressure design. "Survival city builder" or "colony management" usually means resources can run out and things can go badly wrong, sometimes by design. hope that helps :)

  5. ahh classic id also check whether teh game is grid-based or free-form. Free-form placement tends to appeal to people who build for aesthetics, while strict grids suit ppl who enjoy optimising layouts. Neither is wrong, but if the goal is unwinding, pick whichever matches how your parnter likes to make things. hope that helps :)

  6. @mekstrom we went with one that has a disaster toggle and pause-to-build, started on the easiest economy setting instead of pure sandbox, which turned out to be teh right call.

Good luck! lmk how it goes
