  1. hmmmm ok front audio on my mid-tower case died after a driver update. Rear audio is totally fine.

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    i tried two different a heasdet, both work in the rear port and on my phone :/ The vendor audio app used to show a little popup when i plugged into the front, and that popup never appears now. Is there a setting the update could have changed, or do i need to open the case?

  4. ahh classic in mmsys.cpl, check whether teh front jack shows up as a separate device (often named Headphones), possibly disabled or disconnected, right-click > Show Disabled Devices and enable it. good luck man!

  6. check the BIOS: some boards have a front panel type setting (HD Audio vs AC97). if it got reset after a BIOS update or CMOS clear, set it back to HD Audio.

  7. ok so if none of that helps, open teh case and check that teh HD_AUDIO front panel connector is fully seated on the motherboard header. coincidences happen, and a half-loose connector can fail jack detection.

  8. oof roll back the audio driver in Device Manager > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver as a quick test... if teh front jack works again, it's the driver.

  9. lol same thing happened to me if the console app went missing with teh update, the jack logic may be partially gone too 馃槀 install the full audio package from teh motherboard or PC makers support page, which usually includes the console app through the Microsoft Store link. lmk how it goes

  11. open teh vendor's audio console app (if installed) and look for device advanced settings or connector settings. there's often an option like Disable front panel jack detection or Make front and rear output devices play two different audio streams. updates can reset these. hope that helps :)
