    i was watching a video in the browser on my gaming laptop when the whole screen just went black, audio kept going for a second, then stuttered, then the picture came back with a little notification that the display driver had stopped responding and recovered... this started the same evening i installed the NVIDIA ForceWare Drivers 163.75 update... heres teh message i keep getting:

    it happens maybe twice an hour now. before teh update, zero problems for months 🤷 I don't want to start blaming the hardware if this is just a bad driver, but I also don't want to ignore a card that's on its way out. where do I even look first? seriously need help here 😭

    hmmmm quick q is any overclock, undervolt or "OC mode" enabled in the GPU software or BIOS?

    ahh classic check power before blaming the driver lmao A PSU that's borderline or a daisy-chained PCIe cable can cause exactly this under load. If it's a desktop, use two separate PCIe power cables if the card has two connectors.

    If rollback doesnt help, do a clean install: download the driver you want first, disconnect from the internet sooo Windows Update doesnt push its own, boot into Safe Mode, run DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller), then install teh downloaded package. Leftover profiles from older versions cause more of these than ppl think.

    @kofis548 holy cow turned off teh factory OC profile and stayed on ForceWare Drivers 163.75. stable now. the new driver must have been a little less forgiving of that profile. cant believe it was that simple lol
