Hibernate Stopped Working After Installing ASRock Chipset Drivers

  1. Since I installed ASRock ALiveXFire-eSATA2 R3.0 Bios 2.70, my mini PC restarts instead of resuming. Before the update, sleep was boring and perfect. Now it's a daily surprise. Last time I opened teh lid there was this:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    Ive checked power settings, and nothing obvious changed. Im not sure if this is the chipset driver, Modern Standby, or a BIOS thing. Id love a structured way to figure it out instead of trying random tips from ten-year-old forum posts.

  2. if it started exactly with the updtae, roll back teh specific device driver or use System Restore. also check for a BIOS update on teh makers page, since sleep behavior is shared between firmware and drivers.

  5. Check Event Viewer > System for Kernel-Power and Power-Troubleshooter events... the latter logs the wake source; teh former logs unexpected restarts.

  6. ok so install the chipset, Management Engine (if present) and serial IO drivers as a matching set from the PC makers support page. Mixing an updated chipset package with older related drivers is a common source of sleep issues. worked for me anyway 馃し

  8. @ogrant omg finally installed teh matching driver set from teh laptop maker instead of teh generic ALiveXFire-eSATA2 R3.0 Bios. Sleep is boring again, just how i like it.

    15 tabs open and chrome ate all 32GB of ram again
