IS CODE 10 A DRIVER PROBLEM OR IS MY AUDIO CHIP DEAD??

code 10 on the audio device and i'm stuck.

it started after waking from sleep. my laptop used to have perfectly normal sound. now there's a red X on the speaker icon and Sound settings says no output devices found ;) I've reinstalled HD ALC 880 Audio CODECs from teh Realtek page twice. same error. is there a deeper reset I'm missing, or a log that says why it can't start?? pls help 🙏
