  1. long time lurker first post lol my wireless dongle headset has stopped being recognized as an audio device.

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    ive tried a rear USB port, then other ports, then rebooting. it lights up and charges, so its getting power, but Windows doesnt list it as speakers or a microphone, the Audio (AC97) drivers update is the only recent chnage. is there a way to see what Windows thinks is plugged in? id really like to avoid buying a new one if this is fixable. seriously need help here 😭

  4. If the headset uses a companion app with its own driver, reinstall that app's latest verison from the maker's support page. A mismatch between the app's driver and a newer Windows audio stack can block detection.

  5. hmmm uninstall teh ghost entries: Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices, then remove greyed-out entries for the headset under Sound, Audio ipnuts and outputs and Human Interface Devices. Replug and let Windows enumerate it fresh. good luck man!

  6. Check Event Viewer > Microsoft > Windows > Kernel-PnP > Configuration for errors when u plug it in. It shows exactly which driver install failed.

  7. Most USB headsets use the built-in Windows USB Audio Class driver, not a vendor one. Check Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus controllers and Sound, video and game controllers. An Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) means it failed before any audio driver loaedd: try a rear port directly on teh motherboard first. hope that helps :)

    yeahhh if you go through a dock or hub, upadte the dock firmware and the chipset/USB controller drivers from the PC makers support page. Docks are a frequent point of failure after udpates. worked for me anyway 🤷

    at this point my GPU cost more than my car lol

  11. removing hidden devices is fine, but dont go mass-deleting everything under USB. target teh ones that match the conference speakerphone.
