  1. Front audio on my mid-tower case died after a driver update. Rear audio is totally fine.

I tried two different headphones, both work in the rear port and on my phone. The vendor audio app used to show a little popup when I plugged into teh front, and that popup never appears now. Is there a setting the update could have changed, or do I need to open the case? pls help 馃檹

  2. lol same thing happened to me if the console app went missing with the update, teh jack logic may be partially gone too 馃う Install the full audio package from the motherboard or PC makers support page, which usually includes the console app through teh Microsoft Store link.

  4. been there man in mmsys.cpl, check whether the front jack shows up as a separate device (often named Headphones), possibly disabled or disconnected. right-click > Show Disabled Devices and enable it. fingers crossed 馃

  5. hmmm if none of that helps, open the case and check that teh HD_AUDIO front panel connector is fully seated on the motherboard header, coincidences hpapen, and a half-loose connector can fail jack detection.

  8. Roll back the audio driver in Device Manager > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver as a quick test. If the front jack works again, its the driver. hope that helps :)

  10. been there man check the BIOS: some borads have a front panel type setting (HD Audio vs AC97). if it got reset after a BIOS update or CMOS clear, set it back to HD Audio.
