been there man on laptops with Intel VMD/RST, check teh PC makers support page. Some models expect RST mode for features like power management, and switching may affect battery life or sleep. worked for me anyway 馃し

  1. im literally losing my mind here i was updating the BIOS, and the guide told me to switch the storage mode in teh BIOS from RAID to AHCI. i did it, saved, rebooted, and got this:

INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE. I switched it back to RAID and Windows boots again, phew... but I still need AHCI for what Im doing.. 馃槫 is there a safe way to switch without reinstalling Windows? the current storage driver is Gigabyte SATA RAID Beta Driver, if that matters.

  2. yeahhh after switching, Device Manager should show Standard SATA AHCI Controller or Standard NVM Express Controller. the RST/RAID driver can stay installed; it just wont be used. u can remove it later via Apps or pnputil if you want. hope that helps :)

  3. been there man Back up first. The safe-mode method works in most cases, but if u use real RAID volumes (multiple drives), swithcing to AHCI will break the array... only do this with single-drive setups. fingers crossed 馃

  5. nah tbh id just reinstall cleanly in AHCI mode if its a fresh system... less hacky. just my 2 cents

  6. @nadia.garcia BIOS reset was the culprit. Set it back to RAID and left it there since I dont need AHCI after all.
