not gonna lie this is driving me nuts im cleaning up my home-built desktop and wondering whether the Realtek audio package is worth keeping. i use it mostly for podcast recoridng... some people swear teh vendor driver is better, others say its bloat and the Windows driver is more stable. id love to hear real experiences instead of theory... tell me what you use, laptop or desktop, and whether u noticed anything at all after switching in either direction, sound quality, features, stabiltiy after updates, anything counts. im about to throw this thing out the window lol

Jump to the replyThe generic driver plays audio fine for most people. What you typically lose: vendor effects and EQ, mic noise suppression features, front/rear jack retasking, and sometimes laptop speaker tuning profiles that make built-in speakers sound fuller.
