help!! question for teh network folks: do u install network drivers from teh chip maker or from your PC maker? Im looking at K8V-XE Ethernet Adapter Driver from ASUS for my gaming laptop. My priority is fast downloads. Is there any real risk in going newer than what the PC maker supports? Im not having serious issues right now, which is exactly why Im cautious. Id rather not trade a working setup for a slightly newer version number unless theers a clear benefit. im about to throw this thing out the window lol
LAPTOP MAKERS WI-FI DRIVER OR ASUSS NEWEST K8V-XE ETHERNET ADAPTER DRIVER?
ok so the OEM driver is quite a bit older than the current K8V-XE Ethernet Adapter Driver.
ahh classic for Wi-Fi + Bluetooth combo cards, update both drivers from the same source and generation. Mixing an old Bluetooth driver with a new Wi-Fi driver can cause odd issues. hope that helps :)
lol same thing happened to me PC makers sometimes customize drivers for their hardware: antenna configuration, power management, or combined Wi-Fi/Bluetooth behavior. the chip makers generic driver usually works fine but may not include those tweaks. good luck man!
@quiettrace-id WOWWW staiyng on the OEM driver for now since there are no problems. good to know what to try if i do get issues.
