  1. ok weird one after a BIOS update, my gaming laptop has no Wi-Fi at all xD No Wi-Fi tile in quick settings, no Wi-Fi page in Settings, and Device Manager doesnt list a wireless adapter. Its like the card doesnt exist. Heres what the network icon shows:

    Network & internet

    Network & internet
    Wi-Fi • HomeNet_5G
    No internet, secured

Connected, but nothing loads. Troubleshoot problems?

the last thing installed was the ASUS P5B-E Plus WiFi-AP 5.1230.0530.2006 update. i don't have Ethernet on this laptop, so i can't just download something. i've got a phone and a USB stick. what's teh best plan? pls help 🙏

  2. Use your phone's USB tethering to get online temporarily. Windows usually supports it without extra drivers. Then download the Wi-Fi driver from the PC maker's support page for your exact model. worked for me anyway 🤷

  3. oof check BIOS/UEFI: wireless can be disabled there, and BIOS updates sometimes reset it. also check for a physical Wi-Fi switch or a function key combo.

  5. If the adapter shows up with an error, uninstall it (tick delete the driver software), reboot, and let Windows install its inbox driver. Then install the maker's driver over it.

somewhere an AI is confidently telling someone the wrong fix rn

  7. yeahhh use netsh wlan show drivers once the adapetr appaers. It confirms the driver loaded and shows its version, which helps if you need to report the issue.

  9. Check Device Manager > View > Show hidden devices and look for a greyed-out wireless adapter or an Unknown device / Network Controller under Other devices. That tells you whether the hardware is still detected. worked for me anyway 🤷

  13. ok so do a full power drain: Shift + Shut down, unplug, wait, then boot, wi-Fi modules can get stuck after updates, and Fast Startup can keep that state. good luck man!
