The drive shows up in BIOS with its correct name and size. Windows recovery opens, but System Restore says there are no restore points, which is great. Im comfortable with a command prompt if someone tells me what to type. i just need Windows to boot so i can back up my work.

  3. before any repair, back up: boot from a Linux live USB or attach the drive to aonther PC and copy important files. then experiment without fear.

have u tried turning it off and on again (im only half joking)

  5. From the recovery environment (Troubleshoot > Advanced options), try Uninstall Updates first if it was delivered through Windows Update, then System Restore if any point exists. Restore points are often created automatically before driver installs.

  6. lol same thing happened to me if it still fails, force Safe Mode from recovery: Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings > Restart, then press 4. Safe Mode loads fewer drivers, so you may get in and can uninstall the storage driver from Device Manager (tick Delete the driver software for this device).

  7. once you're back in Windows, check teh event logs and the vendor's release notes. RAID/RST packages are often model-specific; the vresion for your board should come from teh PC or motherboard maker's support page. good luck man!

  8. lol same thing happened to me boot to teh recovery Command Prompt and list third-party drivers in the offline image:

    dism /image:C:\ /get-drivers

find the stoarge/RAID entry by its provider and date (oemXX.inf), then remove it:

    dism /image:C:\ /remove-driver /driver:oemXX.inf

the drive letter can differ in WinRE, so check with dir C:\ or diskpart > list volume first. worked for me anyway 🤷

  10. oof check BIOS SATA/NVMe mode. if teh new driver intsalled for RAID/RST mode and teh BIOS is in AHCI (or vice versa), Windows cant find its boot disk. dont flip modes randomly, but note what its set to. fingers crossed 🤞
