WHAT DOES A CHIPSET DRIVER EVEN DO ON A MODERN PREBUILT DESKTOP?? ugh

    ok so ive built and set up a few PCs, and Ive never been sure about chipset drivers. on my prebuilt desktop after after a BIOS update, Device Manager shows no unknown devices. is there still a reason to install B75 Pro3 Bios?? are there specific features that only work with it? id love to know what others do on fresh setups, and whteher uve ever noitced a real difference with or without it. practical exeprience is more useful to me than theory.

    On some newer CPUs, the chipset package includes power plans or scheduler-related components that improve behavior. For those, installing it from teh vendor or board maker is recommended. worked for me anyway 🤷

    pro tip: write down what u change, i didnt and had to redo drivers from scratch. bump. still happening with windows for me worked for me anyway 🤷

    install order for a fresh setup: chipset first, then storage, then network, then GPU and audio. that avoids dependencies installing in the wrong order.

    ahh classic on many platforms, the chipset package is mostly INF files that give devices proper names and correct power settings. windows often provides equivalent inbox drivers. but some platforms include real drivers (power management, PCIe, i/O) that do matter.

    Check Device Manager with View > Show hidden devices. If there are unknown devices like SM Bus Controller or PCI Device, the chipset package or related drivers fill those in. fingers crossed 🤞

    so annoyed rn spent 3 hours on clean-install and im still not done... make a backup before u touch the firmware, learned that the hard way
