  1. ugh. im genuinely confused. Picture on my AV receiver is great, but sound comes out of teh laptop speakers only.

It started right after the NVIDIA driver update. Ive checked the volume mixer, default device, everything I know of. Theres simply no HDMI output to choose. Is there a component I need to install separately? My family is now watching with subtitles and judging me, so any help would be very welcome. I am comfortable reinstalling the driver if that is what it takes. seriously need help here 😭

  2. open teh classic sound panel with mmsys.cpl, right-click teh empty area, enable Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices :/ A disabled HDMI endpoint wont appear in teh modern Settings page. hope that helps :)

  9. ok so many GPU installers let u choose components in Custom install, and teh HDMI/DisplayPort audio driver is one of them. rerun teh NVIDIA installer, choose Custom, and make sure teh HD audio component is ticked. hope that helps :)

  17. check the TV with a soundbar in betweens input settings. some TVs and receivers renegotiate audio formats after a driver change. power-cycling teh TV with a soundbar in between with the PC on, or changing the TVs HDMI audio mode to PCM, can bring the endpoint back. lmk how it goes
