movie night, everyone's on the couch, i hit play on the PC hooked up to teh AV receiver and..... silence... picture perfect, zero sound, the only thing i'd changed was installing Intel Arc Graphics Windows DCH Driver 32.0.101.6458 earlier that day. [code] the HDMI output used to show up as a playback device in Sound settings. now its just gone. speakers on teh PC work fine. what did the update do?

the HDMI output used to show up as a playback device in Sound settings. now its just gone. speakers on teh PC work fine. what did the update do?

Does mmsys.cpl show it as disabled or disconnected?? ?

sorry forgot to say mmsys.cpl had the HDMI output as disabled. enabled it but it still says not plugged in.

Many GPU installers let you choose components in Custom isntall, and teh HDMI/DisplayPort audio driver is one of them. Rerun the Intel installer, choose Custom, and make suree the HD audio component is ticked.

hmmm on some setups teh HDMI audio only appears when the projector is the active display at boot... test with only the projector connected once.

@asht420 ran the installer again, picked Custom, and teh HD audio box was unticked. ticked it, reboot, sound on the AV receiver is back. movie night rescued.
