  1. im literally losing my mind here i needed to scan a signed contract tonight... the all-in-one prints perfectly, but when i open a PDF tool, it says no scanner was found... connected over the home network, same as always. the only change: i installed HP Photosmart C4600 All-in-One Printer Series Driver 14.8.0 last week... heres teh message:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    ive restarted the printer and teh PC, and tried scanning from the printers own screen to the PC, which also fails. does teh scan side need a separate driver? i genuinely dont know how scanning works on Windows anymore. thx in advance!!

  3. for ntework scanners, teh PC and printer must be on the same subnet and the firewall must allow teh vendors scan utility. some vendor tools also need the printer added by IP rather than discovered.

    yeahhh remove the device in Settings > Printers & scanners, uninstall the vendor software, reboot, and install the full package from the support page. Partial upgrades are a common cause. hope that helps :)
