HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY NOTICED A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DRIVER BRANCHES FOR STREAMING AND GAMING?

    not gonna lie this is driving me nuts every time I open the AMD app it asks which branch I want and I click whichever is selected... now Im doing serious streaming and gaming with deadlines and I care more about stability than the newest game fixes, is teh slower branch genuinely more tested, or is it the same driver with a different label? I would also like to know if switching branches is paifnul, or if it is just a matter of downloading a different package and installing it cleanly.

    15 tabs open and chrome ate all 32GB of ram again

    hmmm broadly: gaming branches ship faster with optimizations for new releases. studio/stable branches ship less often and focus on validation with creative apps. both run games and apps fine. the difference is cadence and test focus, not capability.

    oh ive been there lol if travel pays your bills, the stable/studio branch is a sensible default.. lmao games still run well on it; u just get new game optimizations a bit later.

    lol same thing happened to me switching branches is easy: download the other package from teh AMD support page and install it with the clean install option (or DDU if you want to be thorough). Your apps don't need reinstalling. fingers crossed 🤞

    hmmmm not sure about that studio drivers arent magic... if an app has a bug with ur GPU, both branches may have it, and the fix might arrive in the gaming branch first.
