  1. ugh. okay, help me do this properly 👍 My home-built PC has teh screen resolution reset after a ASUS update and Ive decided to go back to teh previous driver.

Ive downloaded DDU and the older package. What exactly do i do, in what order, and how do i stop Windows from reinstalling teh new one behind my back? i have never used DDU before, so please assume i know nothing. i do have a USB stick and a second device to read instructions on while i work.

  4. yeah so home edition, so no Group Policy for me.

  5. oh ive been there lol DDU isnt dangerous if you use it as intended, in Safe Mode, with a restore point first... the real risk is running it in normal mode with teh network on and letting Windows race you to isntall a driver mid-cleanup.

  10. sequence that works: 1) download the older package from the ASUS support page and DDU, 2) disconnect the network, 3) boot into Safe Mode (Settings > Recovery > Advanced startup > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup Settings), 4) run DDU, choose Clean and restart, 5) install teh older package, 6) reconnect. hope that helps :)

  11. roll Back is greyed out when Windows doesnt have the previous driver package cached. thats normal, not a sign anything is broken. you can see whats stored with pnputil /enum-drivers and remove a specific package with pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall. hope that helps :)

  13. ehh respectfully disagree, i tried that and it made ddu worse... for me it was teh power plan, swapped it and boom, fixed

  14. To stop Windows Update replacing it, use Device Installation Settings > No (System > About > Advanced system settings > Hardware) or the Group Policy "Do not include drivers with Windows Updates" on Pro.

  15. been there man before all that, create a restore point: Checkpoint-Computer -Description "before DDU" in an admin PowerShell, or via System Protection. Cheap insurance. good luck man!

  16. @nell_silicon DDU was much less scary than I expected... clean install of the older ASUS driver and everything works... saving this thread for next time.
