  1. im literally losing my mind here i was waking the monitor from standby on my home-built tower when teh whole screen just went black. Audio kept going for a second, then stuttered, then the picture came back with a little notification that the display drievr had stpoped responding and recovered. This started teh same evening i installed the AMD Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.11.5 Hotfix Update update. Heres the message i keep getting:

    USB Audio Device Properties

    USB Audio Device Properties
    Device status:
    This device cannot start. (Code 10)

    {Operation Failed}
    The requested operation was unsuccessful.

    It happens maybe twice an hour now. Before teh update, zero problems for months 🤷 i dont wanna start blaming teh hardware if this is just a bad driver, but i also dont want to ignore a card thats on its way out. Where do i even look first? seriously need help here 😭

  2. been there man since it started right after teh upadte, roll back first. Device Manager > Display adapters > right-click your GPU > Properties > Driver > Roll Back Driver. If the button is greyed out, download the previous package from teh AMD support page and install that instead. worked for me anyway 🤷

  3. hmmm check power before blaming the dirver. A PSU thats borderline or a daisy-chained PCIe cable can cause exactly this under load. If its a desktop, use two separate PCIe power cables if the card has two connectors. hope that helps :)

    That pattern (black screen, then "display driver stopped responding and has recovered") is Windows TDR: teh GPU didnt answer within teh timeout sooo Windows reset the driver. Open Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System and look for Event ID 4101 from Display or nvlddmkm/amdkmdag/igfx... the timestamps tell u if it lines up with ur symptom.

  8. wait what id actually do DDU first rather than a rollback. Rollback keeps the same leftovers aruond, and a clean slate tells you more.

  9. @rhea.walsh WOWWW turend off the factory OC profile and stayed on Radeon Software Crimson Edition 16.11.5 Hotfix Update . stable now 😭 the new driver must have been a little less forgiving of that porfile. owe u a beer 🍺

    the real fix was the friends we made along the way
